Sightseeing in Galapagar (2)

The Cemetery is near Jacinto Benavente School and the sports centre.
This is where the people who die are buried and the people who remember them bring them flowers.
It’s an important place because in 1954 the playwright Jacinto Benavente was buried here.
In the photo Lucía and Amaya are at the entrance ….they are very frightened!!!!

Jesús and Carlos are in front of the church, which is under reconstruction at this moment.

In this photo, we are in front of the Town Hall with Twinny. It was built in18th century. It was built of stone. The Town Hall has been used for multiple purposes. It’s been a school and a jail. It is beautiful. The Mayor and the town councilors work here. They meet in the building, and try to improve things in the town. In front of the Town Hall thereis a fountain, and every four years, the new Mayor sends some experimented people to reform it, and when they finish, it is even more beautiful than before.

In this photo there are two girls – Sandra and María- and Twinny. They are in front of Queen Sofia Community Centre. It was built in 1982. It’s used as a municipal council with Education and Social Services among others. There are also activities for children, women and the elderly.
Although it was raining that day, the girls were very happy with our guest.

This is the main square (the Town Hall Square). It is surrounded by the church, the Community Centre, the Town Hall and several shops and houses. In the centre, apart from E2C class, there is a fountain that has been rebuilt recently, as well as the pavement. This is the meeting point where we all teenagers meet on Friday afternoons. The statue of Jacinto Benavente is also in this square.
